A Mother's Day 2020 Unlike Any Other
Hello from our little studio in Culver City/Venice!
On March 18, 2020, we closed our studio and along with you, we stayed home to follow government protocol. We witness our friends, floral vendors and growers close their shops and burnt their flowers because they have no way to sell. It has been a heartbreaking moment, one after another.
Since March, the flower market has been closed. This week, they decide to open to help their florist friends get flowers out to moms this Mother's Day Sunday May 10, 2020.
In my flower career, I have never bought flowers in a blind box. I have to feel the texture, smell the fragrance, and see the colors and buy the flowers. This Mother's Day, I learn that I have to put trust in our floral vendors to pick the best florals and put them in a box safely, roll them up in a cart and push it to the loading garage on 8th & Maple in downtown LA where the pick up spot is.
One day, and hopefully one day soon, we will go to the flower market again at 5am, where the city still asleep and we get to watch the first sunlight breaks the horizon from the 10 freeway.
I am beyond grateful that I will be serving mothers next week and making them happy. No job is more important than that of mothers during this stay-at-home order.
We will be doing no-contact delivery of your Mother's Day flowers. But I promise you, I will wave at you and say the biggest hello from 6 ft away.
Happy Mothers Day from us to you!
xo,
Doris
